The Villas at One&Only Reethi Rah, Maldives

If you dream of being cast away on a tropical island paradise, One&Only Reethi Rah would probably be your idea of heaven. Set on a private island in the North Malé Atoll, this sumptuous all-villa resort really lives up to its name – Reethi Rah means ‘beautiful island’.

Whether you sweep in via speedboat or cruise in on a luxury yacht, you can’t fail to be awestruck by the lush, tropical island, fringed by powder-white beaches, gently swaying palms, and sparkling turquoise waters. Step ashore, sinking your toes into the soft sand, and you’ll discover an ultra-chic resort dedicated to laidback luxury.

Eight restaurants showcase creative cuisine from around the world. There’s a pampering spa to soothe mind, body and soul, as well as a PADI Gold Palm Resort Dive Centre, three pools, an artist’s studio, golf simulator, and designer clothes boutique.

But perhaps the highlight of the resort is its unashamedly decadent villas.

Accommodation at One&Only Reethi Rah

Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the villas at One&Only Reethi Rah are sublime. The majority of accommodation is in secluded beach villas tucked amongst the trees with direct beach access, and remarkable over-water villas, which have a definite ‘Wow!’ factor.

All villas are vast, with soaring vaulted ceilings, oodles of outdoor space, and design influences from Maldivian, Chinese and Balinese architecture. Each comes with a personal butler and villa valet to tend to your every need, and a bike for every occupant so you can potter around the island at your leisure.

Beach Villas

The Beach Villas at One&Only Reethi Rah are the lead-in category – but there’s nothing basic about them! Set on their own deserted stretch of sand surrounded by a shady veranda and tropical gardens, they offer the epitome of indoor/outdoor living.

Styled in wood and natural stone with elegant furniture, rooms have a neutral colour scheme with crisp white linens and accents in ochre, rust and silver. Large bathrooms feature walk-in rainshowers and sunken terrazzo baths with uninterrupted sea views, while a comfy sitting area opens to the outside.

Outdoors is pure bliss. Breakfast on the wooden deck listening to waves gently lap the shore, laze in a hammock strung between trees, or recline on your private sun loungers.
For a delightful addition to your outdoor space, Beach Villas with Pool feature a sleek pool set in the sand, just steps from the shoreline. So you can move from ocean to pool in seconds.

Families and groups of friends seeking an oversized hideaway love the Two-Villa Residence with Pool. Two freestanding villas, one with king-size bed and the other with two queens, share a private stretch of beach with pool and spacious outdoor living and dining area.

And then there’s the Grand Beach Villa with Pool, a spacious family-friendly villa with large private pool, canopied day beds and generous indoor/outdoor living space – ideal for treasured family get-togethers.

Water Villas

For an iconic Maldivian experience you can’t beat the Water Villas at One&Only Reethi Rah; vast thatched beauties suspended on stilts over the azure lagoon. Connected to the mainland by stilted walkways, they’re truly breathtaking.

The Water Villas have the same elegant interiors as the Beach Villas. But outside is where the magic happens. A sundeck surrounds the structure with wrap-around netted hammocks fringing the deck, ideal for swaying above the lagoon in the afternoon breeze, cocktail in hand. There’s a private jetty with sun loungers, while steps lead down into the clear waters.

For an indulgent upgrade, choose the Water Villas with Pool. These deluxe villas have a private infinity pool on the sun deck along with a romantic cabana. So you can enjoy sunset from your pool before falling asleep to the sound of waves beneath your bed.

The palatial Grand Water Villa with Pool is simply sigh inducing. This majestic villa sits on the west of the island to make the most of those glorious sunsets. With abundant living space and a duo of pools on deck, this really is Maldivian paradise.

What is Madinat Jumeirah?

Is it a hotel? Is it a traditional Arabian village and Souk? No, it’s the one and only Madinat Jumeirah, a top Dubai attraction that doubles up as both a luxury hotel complex and must-see tourist site in one. This really is a destination in itself, whether you are staying in one of its three luxury resorts or not, as the beauty of Madinat Jumeirah is its size. You’ll lose yourself in a warren of market stalls, palm-lined waterways and gardens while here. In fact, this unique highlight of Dubai is so all-encompassing that many visitors find themselves thinking: ‘What is Madinat Jumeirah?’ before travelling. Well here at Infinity and Beyond Travel, we decided to take a look and clear up the confusion.

Hotels at Madinat Jumeirah

There are three five-star hotels at Madinat Jumeirah: the Jumeirah Al Qasr, Jumeirah Mina A’Salam and Jumeirah Al Naseem, plus summerhouses and villas dotted around the complex too. Each of those luxurious resorts has its own character, style, unique design and reason to book – depending on exactly what it is you’re looking for from your Dubai holiday, of course.

Jumeirah Al Qasr, for example, is laid out like an ancient palace, all decorative pools, fountains and grand stone balconies – a no-expense-spared recreation of the Middle-East’s old-world luxury. The property itself actually offers all the mod-cons and amenities you’d hope for from a five-star Dubai hotel, despite its evocatively nostalgic, imperial appearance. As such, a Bentley on arrival, an award-winning spa and suites awash with in-room extras are all part of the Jumeirah Al Qasr package, and fittingly so.

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, on the other hand, is a more boutique and intimate beachfront hotel, known for its elegant interior design, relaxed seafront swimming pool and a truly memorable culinary journey across its clutch of onsite eateries, bars and restaurants. Then you have Jumeirah Al Naseem at the other end of the design spectrum (compared to the grand Jumeirah Al Qasr), as this particular Madinat Jumeirah hotel belongs firmly in the 21st century. Jumeirah Al Naseem goes on to flaunt minimalist guestrooms, contemporary furnishings, chic décor throughout and an all-round atmosphere that feels fresh and youthful.

Madinat Jumeirah Architecture

Perhaps the most unique thing about Madinat Jumeirah is the complex’s architecture, and intentionally nostalgic layout. These sprawling grounds are laid out like a traditional Dubai village, albeit a rather polished one full of gourmet restaurants, stylish bars and roof terraces. It all makes for a lot of fun, as a walk around Madinat Jumeirah means hidden stairways and alleys to wander through, canals and lakes complete with boats and gondolas crisscrossing palm fringed patios, plus an old-fashioned souk, or market.

That souk at Madinat Jumeirah is certainly a highlight, with some stalls situated out by the water and the main bazaar being housed under a vaulted wooden ceiling, of beautifully carved beams. The wares on sale here are of the highest order too, from traditional throws and scarfs to delicate ornaments, impossibly intricate cabinets and tables, lamps, lanterns, and plenty else besides. It may not be the dusty, noisy marketplaces of far-flung Dubai, but the Madinat Jumeirah souk still thoroughly entertains and the trinkets, keepsakes and souvenirs to be purchased here are as good as any.

Madinat Jumeirah’s Bars and Restaurants

Choosing where to eat while visiting (or staying at) Madinat Jumeirah is no easy task; this vast development has over 50 bars and restaurants to choose from! From Belgian beer cafés to British-style bistros, Indian fine dining restaurants to oceanfront cocktail bars, you’ll find it all here. And as popular as Madinat Jumeirah is with both day-trippers and residents alike, that almost endless list of options means you are as good as guaranteed a table at your chosen dining spot too, and what’s more, every palate, preference and penchant for a certain setting is bound to be satisfied here.

Given that wealth of gastronomic treats it’s impossible to say which are the best Madinat Jumeirah restaurants, as that’s often a personal choice, though a snapshot of the sheer variety on offer (and some of our favourites) include:

• The Al Fayrooz Lounge
• Folly by Nick & Scott
• 360°
• Publique
• The Skyview Bar
• Brewster’s
• Honyaki
• Pai Thai
• Ushna Restaurant
• Anar
• Shimmers
• Al Hambra

Why is Madinat Jumeirah different?

Dubai is full of one-off travel experiences, and the Jumeirah Group are among the best at providing them, yet even in this land of plenty there is still something special and unique about Madinat Jumeirah.

One of the main things that stands out about Madinat Jumeirah is not only the complex’s scale, but its ability to showcase all sides of Dubai – both old and new. They do this by weaving clever and considerate nods to traditional aspects of wider Dubai culture through what is otherwise a flamboyant luxury resort. This is particularly evident throughout the onsite souk and craft shops, but also the towers and ornate buildings, the royal palace of Jumeirah Al Qasr, and the delectable Middle Eastern fare served in several of those countless eateries too.

And then, finally, you have the modern side of a trip to Dubai also encompassed by Madinat Jumeirah, which is where the three onsite hotels, award-winning spas and exceptional service across the resort come into their own.

6 Reasons to Visit One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius

Located on the tip of the exclusive Belle Mare Peninsula, the One&Only Le Saint Géran is the ‘Grande Dame’ of Mauritius. Built in 1975, this Mauritian style icon reopened in December 2017 after extensive renovation, cementing its status as the ultimate tropical paradise.

The resort sits within 60 acres of lush, tropical gardens, fringed by soft, white sands and gently swaying palms. Featuring scrumptious cuisine, impeccable service and stylish accommodation, this is barefoot luxury at its finest.

Here are six seductive reasons to choose the One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius for your next luxury holiday.

1. Exquisite Accommodation

The resort’s iconic colonial architecture received a contemporary facelift during the renovations, drawing inspiration from sugar cane factories and plantation houses. Mauritian sugar cane thatch covers the roofs, while the modern interiors are elegant and homely.

There is a Villa (Villa One) and also 142 rooms and suites, all of which are dedicated to the art of relaxation, with nature-inspired accents in ocean blue, tropical green and sand yellow, alongside state-of-the-art technology and local artwork. The spacious suites promote indoor/outdoor living, and all accommodation benefits from incredible views over the ocean or palm-lined lagoon.
For the ultimate indulgence, choose Villa One. This standalone two-bedroom villa features a stunning infinity pool, private terrace and full kitchen, and is adorned with custom-made artefacts. A private butler, valet and chef are included, ensuring exquisite service and complete privacy.

2. Legendary Service

Service at the One&Only Le Saint Géran is, quite simply, legendary, prompting an almost unprecedented level of devotion amongst guests. With a service ratio of over three staff to every guest, service is attentive yet discreet. Every possible need is catered for and nothing is too much trouble.

3. World-Class Cuisine

With five sublime restaurants this is a resort for food lovers. Exceptional menus demonstrate a passion for local, seasonal ingredients with a creative twist.
Dine on tapas-style pan-Asian cuisine in the overwater Tapasake, or head to the waterfront La Terrasse, an al fresco restaurant offering traditional Mauritian cuisine and global classics.
Prime is a renowned steakhouse serving Australian organic beef alongside Mauritian seafood, La Pointe dishes up barbecue-style catch of the day with rum cocktails, and L’Artisan is a chic, upscale bakery, perfect for a late breakfast, mid-morning snack or casual lunch.

4. Crystal-Clear Waters

Set on the tip of the peninsula, the One&Only Le Saint Géran is lined on both sides by an exquisite beach, its pristine white sand shaded by palm trees and dotted with private sun loungers. Dip your toes in the azure waters as you stroll along the shore, looking at the coral reef and misty mountains or out to the expansive ocean.
Alternatively, take the plunge in one of three spectacular infinity pools, one of which is exclusively for adults, or enjoy a lazy afternoon poolside under a wooden cabana.

5. Holistic Wellbeing

Indulge in head-to-toe pampering in the sumptuous One&Only Spa. Set around a private infinity pool, this is the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Slip between the hammam, sauna and pool, or book a private treatment room to experience innovative beauty and skincare techniques.
There’s a state-of-the-art fitness centre, ClubOne, and a yoga and Pilates studio for a complete body experience.
Top off your trip with a visit to the onsite hairdresser or treat yourself to an award-winning manicure or pedicure from celebrity podiatrist, Bastien Gonzalez.

6. An Island Playground

If you can be tempted away from your sun lounger, the One&Only Le Saint Géran offers plenty for the adventurous traveller. Have fun in the sun at the resort boathouse, with PADI diving, snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking on offer, or get your thrills kite surfing and water skiing in the calm lagoon.
Head offshore to catch your dinner on a deep-sea fishing adventure, or engage in a unique experience, such as a helicopter tour, champagne boat trip, Mauritian cookery class, or guided nature and wildlife trek.

There’s plenty for the kids too, with KidsOnly and OneTribe clubs catering for all ages from toddler to teens. So even the tiniest travellers have a taste of the good life.

Hotel Arts Barcelona: A Microcosm of Spain’s Cosmopolitan Second City

Barcelona is one of Europe’s most prized cultural hubs, renowned for its contemporary architecture, culinary delights, sunny Mediterranean ambiance, and sophisticated party scene. Soaring above the beachfront district of Barceloneta, Hotel Arts Barcelona is a microcosm of the city.
The towering Pompidou-esque structure is an icon of Barcelona. One of the city’s most fashionable hotels, it offers six restaurants including the Michelin two-starred Enoteca, a lavish outdoor area with gardens and pools, and a sumptuous spa floating high on the 43rd floor. Original artworks and huge floral displays offer the finishing touches, while Frank Gehry’s glittering golden fish sculpture presides over the outside space.
Modern, creative, and luxurious, the Hotel Arts offers a unique stay in Barcelona.
Iconic Design
While Barcelona’s architecture dates back to Roman times and weaves through the medieval period like the winding roads of the Gothic Quarter, the city is synonymous with Antoni Gaudí and Catalan Modernism. Built for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Hotel Arts epitomises the city’s modern side like wall murals etc..
Towering 44 storeys over the Olympic Port, the shimmering glass-and-steel design hotel is one of the tallest structures in the city, offering unparalleled views over the beachfront and urban sprawl. Inside, the light-filled rooms have an understated elegance with clean lines, a neutral colour scheme and state-of-the-art technology including Bang & Olufsen AV systems.
Club rooms offer a more personalised service, while the duplex penthouses – some with spacious outdoor terrace and private gym – offer butler service and use of a Mini Cooper for a few hours each day.
Rich Culinary Heritage
Few cities in the world can rival Barcelona for its culinary scene. From traditional tapas to Galician seafood, authentic Catalan cuisine to Michelin-starred restaurants, it’s a foodie’s paradise. But you don’t need to go far to experience the best of Barcelona’s gastronomy, thanks to the hotel’s superb restaurants.
Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast buffet at Lokal or made-to-order breakfast at Bites, the new, healthy, all-day diner that also serves mouth-watering sweet treats courtesy of a French pastry chef.
The poolside Marina Restaurant serves coastal cuisine from the Mediterranean and around the world, while Michelin-starred chef Sergi Arola offers tapas with a creative twist at Arola. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly Enoteca Paco Pérez. Offering a seasonal menu inspired by the Mediterranean and complemented by a 700-strong wine list, this Michelin two-starred restaurant is one of the finest in the city.
Where City Meets Sea
Barcelona’s sun-drenched beaches are just a few steps from the hotel, so you can make the most of the Iberian sunshine. However Hotel Arts Barcelona has a nature-inspired outdoor space that can make it difficult to leave the property.
Verdant green landscaped gardens sit against the backdrop of the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea – there are plenty of places here to seek out your own private hideaway and fall into your book or sip a cocktail with a view.
The hotel’s large pool sits beneath El Peix, Frank Gehry’s magnificent fish, while a separate children’s pool in the gardens keeps kids amused. If you prefer a child-free environment, Hotel Arts has a new adults-only infinity pool set beside a sophisticated lounge so you can relax in peace.
The City That Never Sleeps
Barcelona’s nightlife is legendary and a short cab ride will whisk you to the heart of the action in a few minutes. Alternatively, toast the sunset from the infinity pool lounge with a glass of champagne before listening to live music, or venture to the stylish P41 Bar & Coctelarium to sample cocktails from around the world courtesy of the hotel’s award-winning mixologist.
Should Barcelona nights leave you feeling delicate – or you simply wish for a little pampering – head up to 43 The Spa. An oasis of tranquillity with dazzling views, you can relax on the outdoor terrace, revitalise in the wet zone, or treat yourself to a sensuous treatment – we recommend the signature Diamond Journey for the ultimate in luxury pampering.

Brexit Survival Guide

So, it has been delayed… again.
As we still await some sort of solution to the Brexit conundrum, we take a look at some key things to consider if you take a luxury holiday in Europe next year because regardless of how things (eventually) do play out, one thing is clear for travel; Brexit is definitely going to have an impact. If you are thinking of travelling to Europe post-Brexit then there are several key points that you should try to bear in mind in order to avoid disappointment; in this Micro-blog, we attempt to simplify those points in byte-size fashion:
New Passport?
Check if you need to renew, on the day of travel your passport MUST be valid for at least another 6 months AND be less than 10 years old; it can take up to 3 weeks to renew
Travel insurance with healthcare cover?
Make sure you get the right insurance as after Brexit your European Health Insurance Card may no longer be valid
Driving abroad?
After Brexit you will need an International Driving Permit to drive in some countries
Travelling with pets?
You’ll need to allow 4 months to arrange this after Brexit as the existing pet passport scheme will end
Travelling for business?
You and your qualifications may need to meet with certain requirements in some countries, plus you might have to notify HMRC if you will be working in the EU
Here at IAB Travel we strive to make your all-round luxury holiday experience easier, so do feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions or are looking to book your next getaway without any fuss…

Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, the family-friendly resorts

Jumeirah’s range of fine hotels and resorts makes for some of the most family-friendly luxury properties in Dubai, with their themed kids clubs, numerous restaurants and mix of spacious guestrooms, suites and villas that can comfortably house the whole family. What’s more, during your stay with Jumeirah on your five-star family break, you’ll get complimentary access to the Wild Wadi Waterpark, which children – and indeed adults – will absolutely love! And, while little ones are keeping busy with the range of activities, games, clubs, playrooms and toys onsite, you’ll be able to unwind in quiet calm and absolute comfort courtesy of each Jumeirah resort’s signature Talise Spa. Of course that’s just the start, as every Jumeirah hotel has its own appeal, unique architecture, bespoke features, views and style. So, with all of this in mind, here at Infinity & Beyond Travel we’ve taken an insider look at some of the top Jumeirah family hotels in Dubai, exploring the best room categories if travelling with the brood.

Family-friendly accommodation options

Jumeirah Madinat Al Naseem: Family Suite

Beginning with the contemporary Jumeirah Al Naseem which, at the time of writing, is one of Jumeirah’s newest Dubai properties, you’ll find lots of family-friendly features here, and a range of sizeable luxury suites too. Daytimes at this particular Jumeirah family hotel are easily spent, with Sinbad’s Kids Club and KiDS at Jumeirah Al Naseem offering something for every age, with watersports, beach games, an indoor jungle gym and soft play area, arts and crafts, cake decorating and even camel rides from the hotel all available. There’s then babysitting service for toddlers, going up to beach bootcamp, a junior lifeguard programme, outdoor cinema, football billiards and themed dinners for teens. When it comes to your stay at Jumeirah Al Naseem, the Family Suite is particularly good for families.

Jumeirah Madinat Al Qasr: Three-Bedroom Royal Suite

Palatial Jumeirah Al Qasr could not be more different to Al Naseem architecturally, as walls of glass and space-age design are replaced by a much more traditional take on Middle Eastern opulence: all ornate balconies, pillars and evocative stonework throughout. What doesn’t change, however, is Jumeirah’s signature five-star service, top onsite facilities and host of family-friendly room options. You’ll get the same access to the endless fun at Sinbad’s Kids Club and Wild Wadi Waterpark, of course, as well as multiple restaurants, the Talise Spa, gym and yoga classes too. And of the 294 guestrooms and suites at Jumeirah Al Qasr, the best family choice is the Three-Bedroom Royal Suite.

Jumeirah Madinat Dar Al Masyaf: Malakiya Two-Bedroom Villa, Malakiya Three-Bedroom Villa & Royal Malakiya Villa

With instant beach access, grounds complete with connecting waterways and gondolas, tropical gardens and ‘summerhouse’ style accommodation options, Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf provides something just a little bit different, which young and old alike will love. Children will be suitably entertained by the various games and clubs of KiDS with great kids murals on the wall at Madinat Jumeirah, while you enjoy the beach and spa. And when it comes to family-friendly accommodation at Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf you won’t be disappointed either, with these three large multi-room villas offering everything you’ll need.

Malakiya Villas Bathroom with Led custom mirror

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam: The Royal Suite

Jumeirah Madinat Mina A’Salam combines a great beachfront setting with a few adult-orientated areas, lounge bars and a personalised health clinic with plenty of space for little ones to play around in and Sinbad’s Kids Club too. The Royal Suite is the main standout room option, with a stunning interior design, a Jacuzzi, extra beds and a sea-facing balcony for families.

Burj Al Arab Jumeirah: Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite, Sky One-Bedroom Suite, Panoramic One-Bedroom Suite, Deluxe Two-Bedroom Suite, Burj Two-Bedroom Family Suite, Burj Three-Bedroom Family Suite, Diplomatic Three-Bedroom Suite, Presidential Two-Bedroom Suite & Royal Two-Bedroom Suite

Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel needs no introduction, as this particular luxury property is among the country’s most recognisable thanks to its unique architectural design and striking décor throughout. Inside, you’ll also be treated to no less than five swimming pools to service just 201 guestrooms (far fewer than some of the larger family-friendly resorts), and nine onsite restaurants to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters, including one with its own indoor aquarium. Then, in addition to Sinbad’s Kids Club and waterpark access, Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Jumeirah also invites younger guests under the age of 16 to stay for free as part of their family summer package, which is always welcome. Depending on the size of your family group, the room choices above are particularly good.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel: Ocean Family Deluxe, Two-Bedroom Ocean Suite, Family Garden Suite, Three-Bedroom Ocean Suite, Beit Al Bahar One Bedroom Royal Villa & Beit Al Bahar Two Bedroom Royal Villa

When it comes to a top Jumeirah family resort, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel has it all: floodlit tennis and indoor squash courts; a private beach and exclusive beachfront villas; 5 swimming pools; 13 restaurants and bars; a beautiful Talise Spa; kids club and nearly 600 rooms to choose from. Of those, some of the standout categories if travelling to Dubai as a family are those listed above.

Why Should Families Choose Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts?

Overall, though at first glance the Jumeirah hotels and resorts may look more suited to adults and couples visiting Dubai, what with their cutting-edge design, five-star facilities, prime locations and host of world-class restaurants, they actually make for a first-class family-friendly Dubai holiday. Thoughtful extras such as the waterpark entry, various kids clubs and games, classes, sports and babysitting services go a long way when travelling with children, as do spacious and well-equipped suites and villas, which all Jumeirah hotels are blessed with. So, if looking to dwell in the lap of luxury on your family trip to Dubai, without worrying that younger guests will be stuck for things to do, the Jumeirah hotels and resorts are a fantastic choice.

Family Fun at the Sani Resort, Greece

Greece has long been a favourite summer holiday destination for families, what with its many characterful islands, watersports, five-star resorts and famous ancient culture to uncover – not forgetting the fantastic food too! Well, here at Infinity & Beyond Travel we are always on the lookout for the next great family getaway, a hotel that offers more than most and ideal holiday locations when travelling with kids; and we found all three, plus a little bit more, at the marvellous Sani Resort in Halkidiki.

Getting to know the Sani Resort

Ok, we hold our hands up, the wonderful Sani Resort isn’t exactly new on our radar. We’ve known about this five-star family-friendly retreat in Greece for quite some time, but a recent revamp and host of new facilities has caught our attention once more. First though, let’s take a look at why Sani Resort is just so good to begin with, even before that wave of new facilities. It starts with the location, nicely tucked away on a 5-mile stretch of white-sand beach in Halkidiki’s Kassandra Peninsula, meaning instant access to numerous beaches that both adults and little ones alike will always love. The surrounding pine forests are also perfect for playing games or enjoying an afternoon stroll to work off that gourmet lunch, and a private luxury yacht marina with boutique outlets and restaurants ensures a touch of glam too. From a family holiday perspective, Sani Resort boasts 1,000 acres of private, secure reserve that contains five 5-star luxury hotels all with their own distinctive personality, which means something to suit everybody. This ever so isolated setting also means children can roam around in safety and freedom, while you enjoy a little downtime – which then comes in many forms here!

Sani_Asterias_2016

Tiny toddlers have the Sani Creche, while slightly older children can enjoy the Mini Club, complete with games, crafts, a playground and children’s pool (the Mini Club Olympic Games and water polo are sure to provide a lot of laughs). Meanwhile teenagers then have their own get-togethers, social spaces, football coaching, sailing, a dance academy and plenty more besides. The result is all-round entertainment for babies through to even the most demanding of teens, leaving adults little else but to kick back, soak up some summery Greek sun, head to the spa or any one of multiple lagoon-style swimming pools.

Things to do at Sani Resort, Halkidiki

Another reason why this luxury Greek resort is such a winning combination for family holidays is the sheer abundance of outdoor activities, sports and adventures to be had in and around the resort itself. For anyone feeling even the slightest bit energised, there’ll certainly be no struggling for things to do here; a gift when away with bouncing children high on holiday adrenaline! You have snorkelling and scuba diving available; a KTM mountain biking club or simply bikes for hire; beekeeping classes; water-skiing and paddle-boards; bird watching walks and scenic forest trails nearby; a child-friendly splash pool; sailing adventures; archery; football; tennis; live theatre performances at the Garden Theatre on evenings, or music and themed foodie nights, depending on the time of year. Add to this the host of beaches within walking distance and those irresistible pools, over 30 separate restaurants and bars; you’ll soon see why Sani Resort is one of the most desirable Greek locations out there.

Activities

New at Sani Resort for 2019

Taking a moment to draw breath then, you’d be forgiven for thinking – what else could Sani possibly add to their already endless list of facilities and fun for 2019? The answer comes in the form of an exclusive Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, a haven of expert coaching, top class equipment and perfectly presented courts for budding players and beginners alike. This is, in fact, the only centre of its type in Europe outside of his own tennis academy in Majorca, so it really is well worth visiting whether you would usually play at home or not. Sani’s tireless team have also introduced an innovative – and very welcome – ‘Digi-detox’ programme, whereby younger visitors are encouraged away from screens, TVs, laptops and iPhones in place of sports classes, a Chelsea FC-sponsored football school, brand new splash pool, sailing clubs and even lessons on how to build the best Lego robots. Parents love it, and we do too.

Another new addition to the already astounding Sani Resort offer is the Adventure Park, where exciting zip-wires and suspended treetop bridges are sure to get the blood pumping! It’s also good to know that every bit of this is made all the easier thanks to an innovative, dedicated service which Sani now provide, whereby on booking certain suites, a personal concierge is assigned to help with time at the creche, arranging activities or reserving your favourite table at mealtimes; magic. Adults need not feel left out, however, as the resort have also installed a new lounge at Sani Club, where beachside BBQs, seafood and carefully crafted cocktails are the order of the day, best enjoyed while little ones are being entertained at the kids club, perhaps. Finally though, as our focus here at Infinity & Beyond Travel is of course the family-friendly elements of Sani Resort right now, we can’t fail to mention the recent inclusion of a special vegan kids menu across the board but, maybe more importantly, an onsite ice cream van too.

Why book your family trip to Sani Resort?

Sani Resort really is one of the ultimate luxury family destinations in Greece, from its immaculate grounds awash with facilities to that enviable setting on the beach of Halkidiki’s Kassandra Peninsula. What’s more, this is actually every bit the indulgent adults escape too, with plenty of romantic spots, stunning spas, sun terraces, gardens to lose yourself in, beaches to stroll along and quite literally dozens of top-notch bars and restaurants that are certainly not steered towards children. That is quite a rare mix, but such is the standard and style of this masterful Greek getaway, plus the ample grounds Sani Resort has to play with when introducing each new service, facility or dedicated area. All this results in a five-star family holiday surrounded by as much elegance as enjoyment around every single corner; genius.

Six Senses Zighy Bay: Oman’s Gold List Luxury Resort

If there’s any hotel you must visit this year, it’s Six Senses Zighy Bay. Recently included on Condé Nast’s Gold List 2019, as one of their picks for Best Hotels and Resorts in the World, Six Senses Zighy Bay is our chosen gem of the Middle East. Interest in the resort is showing no sign of slowing down, so here’s all you need to know about Oman’s luxury Zighy Bay holiday and why it has to be on your 2019 travel bucket list.

Far-flung and free from the frantic

Fly into Dubai International Airport and, nestled in the far northern reaches of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, you’ll find Zighy Bay; a blissful nirvana set between rugged mountain terrain and the unruffled, crystalline waters of the Gulf of Oman. Boasting halcyon days of sunshine, shoreline and sensuality, Six Senses Zighy Bay provides the chance to escape the stress of work and city living, instead offering reconnection to the mind, body and soul.

Rustic living in chic Omani style

Six Senses have drawn upon rustic and natural materials to create a traditional style of accommodation, with splashes of luxury in the plush décor and high ceilings – typical of Arabian design and architecture. All room options have a shaded dining area and private pool but, if you’re planning a real treat, tickle your senses by choosing a room with your very own spa oasis!

Better still; select a suite directly on the beach, for the immediate warmth of sand between your toes first thing in the morning. If you want to spoil your fellow guests, a real deluxe experience can be found in the Beit Musandam, The Private Reserve villa. It’s the closest you can get at Zighy Bay to a home away from home, but it includes some sensational extras – speedboat or paragliding arrival is just the beginning…

Unwind in the walls of an Arabian spa

There’s a wealth of choices available for winding down at Zighy Bay’s Six Senses Spa. Choose from a specially curated menu of skincare, aromatherapy and massage treatments. Six Senses hotels are renowned for their spa experiences, designed to invigorate and re-energise the spirit. The spa is open daily, so you can spend as much of your Zighy Bay holiday revitalising as you please.

Signature massages and beauty treatments are part of a wider sensory story at Six Senses Zighy Bay, with wellness assessments to start your experience and fitness programmes to keep your body moving on your journey through Omani opulence.

Dine like a sultan

Wellness extends to the dining experiences on offer at Oman’s luxe Six Senses resort. Foodies can indulge in wine-tasting and international cuisine, from the vibrant flavours of sumptuous meats to detoxifying veg platters and seafood.

The Edge restaurant has breath-taking views for those looking to go a la carte and indulge in multiple courses, but the magic of Arabian dining is where Six Senses Zighy Bay really comes alive. The mud kitchen of the Spice Market restaurant crafts wholesome and traditional Arabian delights. There’s also a special opportunity to eat Bedouin-style on the beach, with customary pit-cooked meals. Of course, if a more private affair is desired, you can always arrange to dine in the comfort and sanctuary of your own villa.

Live life at its fullest

Zighy Bay might be in a remote location, but you’re never too far from an exhilarating adventure. For an adrenaline fix, try paragliding over the glistening shore, or go mountain biking on that spectacular peninsula terrain. Rock climbing and hiking are also excellent ways to get the muscles moving while enjoying the stunning views.

If you don’t fancy anything too vigorous, you can get behind the wheel of a 4×4 and explore the plateau village of Sabatyn, where you’ll finish the day with a sunset dinner around a glowing campfire. Those who prefer to take things slower will love sea trips – above and below the surface. Enjoy a scuba diving experience amongst rich reefs and marvel at the sinking sun from a cruise on Oman’s gently lapping waters.

Everything you need for your perfect holiday

A plethora of facilities ensure your Zighy Bay holiday is as unique to you as possible, right down to that much-appreciated private night in, where you can retreat to your room after dinner with a new book, or a film, completely handpicked by you from an extensive media library.

There’s little need to leave the beach with service to your sun lounger, but you’ll also find access to children’s clubs, sporting activities and more. You can even hold corporate events in the dedicated meeting space, with tailored activities and entertainment throughout the day to put your colleagues in the perfect mind-set.

With so much beauty, wonder and intrigue on offer at Six Senses Zighy Bay, it’s really no surprise it’s been named a Condé Nast Gold List resort. It’s a traveller favourite at Infinity & Beyond too, so it’s got to be well worth a visit in 2019. Something tells us it’s time to get planning!
