Luxury Travel in 2021: Changes to international travel rules

For full details on travelling to England from another country, please refer to the Government website.

Key points

If you are fully vaccinated

Before you travel, you must book and pay for a COVID-19 test and take it before the end of day 2 in England. You must also complete a passenger locator form in the 48 hours before you arrive (you can choose either a lateral flow or PCR test). You will need to enter your COVID-19 test booking reference number on the passenger locator form.

When you arrive in England, you must book a COVID-19 test before you travel and take it on / before day 2. If you choose a lateral flow test and the test result is positive, you must then take a PCR test to confirm the result (you must self-isolate until you get that result).

If the PCR test result is positive, you must self-isolate for 10 days and fellow household members may also be asked to self-isolate.

If your original choice was a PCR test and the result is positive, you must self-isolate for 10 days. Members of your household might also be asked to self-isolate.

If you are not fully vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must take a COVID-19 test in the 3 days before you travel. You must also book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 PCR tests, to be taken after arrival. Finally, complete a passenger locator form in the 48 hours before you arrive.

When you arrive in England you must quarantine at home or the place you are staying for 10 days. Take the first COVID-19 PCR test – which must be booked before you travel – on or before day 2. Take the second test on or after day 8 (NB: If your day 2 test is positive you do not have to take the day 8 test).

If the test result is positive you must self-isolate for 10 days, with members of your household possibly also asked to self-isolate.

Here at IAB Travel, we stayed positive that travel would return. It took far longer than we might have hoped, but it came back. True, it is perhaps not quite as straightforward as it used to be but it is back nonetheless. We are confident that luxury holidays 2022 are going to be the number 1 aspiration for many of us. As such, we will put together some very special luxury holiday packages alongside our most trusted and popular travel partners.

Like us, they all take your health and safety very seriously indeed. Next year will be a huge one for the travel industry. It is going to be very interesting to see how everything unfolds. We know that sanitation will play an even bigger role than it has in the past, and we also know that those involved in the fulfilment of UK traveller holiday experiences will need to go above and beyond.

Luckily, when you book with us you can rest assured that ‘above and beyond’ is exactly what we do, as it says in the name. Our ultra-personalised service will not only remain in place for 2021 but it will go deeper to meet with an increase in expectations. When you choose us, we’ll acknowledge the level of responsibility you are placing on our shoulders in a way that no other travel agent or tour operator will.
